Double-breasted coats, suits and dresses are seen throughout the spring collections. This coat, a handsome example of the fitted silhouette, is in black and white checked wool with velvet collar and cuffs. Side pockets accent the hipline curve. Instead of the whirling skirt of last year, this one follows clean-cut lines with side width. Named “Central Park”, the coat is by Christian Dior, who also made the hat, both shown in his New York collection, Dec. 18, 1952. (AP Photo/Bob Wands)
